Ballet and Pointe: A balance of building strength and flexibility is essential at this level to prepare for the rigors of advanced training. Barre work includes more combinations en demi-pointe and center work includes grand pirouettes and batterie. Pointe work is expanded in the center to build stability and prepare for repertoire/choreography. This class meets twice a week, and students are able to add two additional ballet classes, repertoire, character dance, modern dance and stretch/conditioning classes to their schedule if they choose.
Character: Much of classical ballet is character, or folk dance. Students are strongly encouraged to take this class as part of their ballet training. This class meets twice per week.
Modern: With a focus on contemporary dance forms and movement, this class supports classical ballet training and allows students to develop a greater versatility of style and movement. Classes include Modern Technique and Modern variations/Partnering
Stretch: In stretch and conditioning, dancers will develop greater flexibility, strenght and endurance.
Youth Company: Students desiring to dance at a pre-professional level are encouraged to audition for Youth Company. Students will perform multiple times per year. Please visit the Youth Company page for more details.
If you are new to the studio, please email or call and schedule a placement class.
We offer classes for students through three different programs: The Pre-Professional Program (including Youth Company and Competition), Interdisciplinary Program and Recreational Program.
SLC Ballet is updating the dress code. Leotards and tights will be available to purchase the week of August 14th in the studio. Website will be updated shortly.
